BIOGRAPHY

After completing three years of military service in 2004, he studied physical theatre in Tel Aviv, graduating from Teatron Haguf School & Stage for Physical Theatre in 2005. From 2005-2007, he was a dancer in the Batsheva Ensemble, and from 2007-2008, he danced in the international cast of Ohad Naharin’s Kamuyot as part of a project of the Riksteastern. Since 2007, Idan has been a therapist in the Ilan Lev method, and since 2008, he has freelanced as a dancer in projects at the Klipa Theater and Cameri Theater as well as in the Suzanne Dellal Centre’s production of Barak Marshall’s Rooster. Idan has been a Gaga teacher since 2008 and continues to produce his own work.

Gaga is a movement language which Ohad Naharin developed over the course of many years  which is applied in daily practice and exercises by the Batsheva Dance Company members. The language of Gaga originated from the belief in the healing, dynamic, ever-changing power of movement. Gaga is a new way of gaining knowledge and self-awareness through your body. It provides a framework for discovering and strengthening your body and adding flexibility, stamina, and agility while lightening the senses and imagination.
